PRASADAM

"By giving away food we get more strength."
"By bestowing clothing on others, we gain more beauty."
"By donating abodes of purity and truth we acquire great treasures."

– Gautama Buddha

Food(Parsadam)

Food is one of the most fundamental essentials of human life without which, the survival of human beings is just impossible. Food is radically the most significant source of energy, consisting of various nutrients, which aid our physical growth and development. For an individual to stay healthy and elegant, it is required to take a balanced diet, but here again, the irony of our country cannot be neglected. Due to poverty, so many people are just unable to eat timely and proper food. Poverty has made them so destitute that they have to struggle a lot to earn even three primary meals of the day.

WHY?

They lack money and other resources (clean water, ingredients, etc.) to get enough food for their family and themselves. This scarcity of food and supplies has flared up serious problem of Malnutrition that is the mother cause of other serious health issues. According to the Global Nutrition Report, malnutrition is a condition that arises when the body does not receive the right amount of minerals, vitamins, and other essential nutrients. The report also stated that 56 out of 1000 children under the age of 5 years died in the year 2012 due to malnourishment. Malnutrition is a severe health issue in India, and the highest populations of unprivileged children are suffering from it. About 40% of Indian children under the age of 5 years are acutely malnourished. Malnourishment is a state that wrecks children’s bodily and mental growth. Consequences of malnutrition in children may result in learning disabilities, hypertension, and an increase in diabetes. According to the UN Report, India is home to 23.4% of world’s hungry people and 51% of women who are anemic. The report further stated that India has around 190.7 million undernourished people and 38.4% of children under the age of five are stunted. In India, not only children but women are too suffering from malnutrition; it generally knocks pregnant women due to which they give birth to anemic and feeble infants. Those infants are usually at higher risk of death only a few makeups to survive. According to the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2017 Report, dwarfing is the result of long developed nutritional deprival that may affect in the form of mental development, intellectual capacity and school performance.
